About the Program: 
Purple Moon Child Development, Inc. is an eco-healthy, community based preschool in NE Portland offering Infant/Toddler, Preschool and PreK classes. Purple Moon strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment while offering a developmentally appropriate program designed to enhance each child’s self-esteem, sense of competence and a positive approach towards learning and education. Purple Moon recognizes each child’s need to grow and develop at his/her own pace in an atmosphere promoting social and emotional awareness, kindness, citizenship and empathy towards each other. Each class has a specific social and academic mission with components or “building blocks” which compliment each-other and help create a solid foundation. We believe children are active learners and learn best through “doing”. Learning materials and activities provided by Purple Moon educators are concrete, real and relevant to children’s lives. We believe a multi-cultural and anti-bias curriculum will enrich the lives of all children by encouraging acceptance and appreciation of our similarities and differences. We work in partnership with our community and parents, communicating regularly to ensure successful fulfillment of the program and individual goals. We value parent participation, realizing both their involvement and evaluation are essential to a quality program. We believe diversity is the foundation of a well-rounded individual.
