About the Program:
The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge opened in 1951 and has served the needs of thousands of children and adults alike, offering a variety of enriching, recreational and educational opportunities for members of the La Cañada community and surrounding areas. The La Cañada Flintridge Community Center (LCFCC) Preschool is an extension of the Community Center, offering a half-day (with extended care options) program for children ages three through five. The school year begins in mid-August and ends in late May.
The LCFCC Preschool provides a warm, safe and nurturing atmosphere with a wide variety of age-appropriate activities designed to promote the social, intellectual, physical and emotional aspects of learning. Teachers create an environment for the children to learn through active exploration and discovery. Manipulative toys, creative experiences, group time, floor toys, blocks, paints, play dough, sand and yard play are examples of what is offered on a daily basis. Particular emphasis is placed on helping to develop social skills such as listening, talking, helping, sharing and negotiating.
